An In Depth Look At The Email Interface Of The HTC Sensation XE

The HTC Sensation XE is arguably the most impressive handset currently available from the manufacturer. It is a very versatile device which is capable of some amazing things, however in this article I will look at its email interface as this is one of the most common uses for smartphones.

When you first activate your HTC Sensation XE, you will be prompted to input your current login details for any existing email accounts you may have. Most services are supported, including AOL, MSN, Yahoo! etc, and of course Gmail. You are also encouraged to set up a Gmail account if you do not already have one, as this is required to activate some Android services.

The email interface of the HTC Sensation XE is provided by HTC Sense, which is the manufacturer's custom Android interface, so as you may expect it is easy to use and has several neat features. To alert you to new emails, the email icon will display the number of unread emails. Simply tap the icon to open the email app, and you will then be presented with a list of emails. To open any unread or previously read messages, you simply tap the screen. There are options along the bottom of the screen which allow you to carry out several tasks just as you would when reading emails on a computer. You can forward or delete emails, as well as mark them as unread or file them in a specific folder.

There are icons along the bottom which allow you to sort your emails by categories like those with attachments, email you have responded to and are in an active exchange of messages with, unread messages etc. you can carry out several actions in bulk by ticking the box at the side of each message, and you can then perform an action to all ticked messages such as delete, or mark as unread.

Writing new emails is a simple task with the email interface on the HTC Sensation XE. Simply tap the pencil symbol in the top right corner of the screen, and enter the desired recipients and subject line. You can then enter your text and attach files of various formats like PDF or JPEGs. By tapping the menu shortcut at the base of the screen you will be presented with all the possible options for the email before you send it. This is where you can select your attachments, change the priority of the email, discard and of course send it.

As an important part of smartphone use for many, emails have never been easier to send on the go thanks to handsets like the HTC Sensation XE. Its capabilities as a portable email device is one of the many reasons I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone looking for their next smartphone.
