How to Set Up a Voicemail Box on Verizon With a Song

Verizon allows you to set a personal greeting on your voice mailbox. It's meant to record a brief voice message to play for callers, but you can record a song instead. The Verizon voice mail system will play the greeting whenever someone calls and you don't pick up the phone. You can set up your voice mailbox with a recorded greeting from your home phone or from another line.

Difficulty:Moderately Easy1
Dial your voice mail access number.
2
Enter the last four digits of your phone number if you are calling from your Verizon phone. Press "#" to interrupt the greeting when it begins to play.
3
Press "*" if you are calling from a phone other than your Verizon line. Dial your 10-digit phone number, then enter the last four digits of your phone number and press "#".
4
Enter a new passcode when prompted. The passcode must consist of four to eight characters. After you enter the passcode, the Verizon system will prompt you to say your name.
5
Speak your name clearly. The system will prompt you for a greeting.
6
Play the song you want to record as your greeting into the phone's receiver.
If you have forgotten your voice mail access number, you can get the number by calling Verizon at 800-837-4966.
