How to Reset an X10 Phone Using AT&T Buttons

Two types of button resets are on a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. The soft reset function powers the phone off, but does not erase any data. The master reset wipes the memory on the phone and resets it to factory defaults.

Difficulty:Moderately Easy1
Press and hold the "Power" button and select "Power off." If the menu will not come up or the phone is frozen, skip this step.
2
Remove the battery door by pulling up on the finger grip on the bottom edge of the back cover. Lift the battery from the bottom, and set the battery and battery door aside.
3
Hold down the "Left" and "Right" buttons.
4
Slide the memory card out of the slot, and reinstall the battery and battery cover.
5
Press and release the "Power" button while continuing to hold the "Left" and "Right" buttons.
6
Release the buttons when you see the reset instructions appear on the screen.
7
Follow the on screen directions to complete the reset process. It can take up to 15 minutes to complete.
To reset the phone without losing any data, press the "Power" button and touch "Power off."
