Two of the most impressive mobile devices released recently are the Samsung Galaxy Note and the Motorola Razr. The launch of these models has been somewhat overshadowed by the likes of the Apple iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus but both offer some superb functionality and high specification that rivals what can be found on their more esteemed counterparts. Here we take a look at what these two exciting models have to offer.
In terms of looks the Motorola Razr is the most eye catching of the two devices. This new model signifies a change in styling from the traditional curved finish that is found on many previous Motorola models. This new device offers a modern angular finish complete with tapered edges that make it one of the most visually stunning phones available. Part of the appeal of this phones design is down to the fact that it measures just 7.1mm depth. This measurement makes it the slimmest handset currently available. The Samsung Galaxy Note grabs your attention thanks to its large size. This phones uses the largest screen of any current phone at 5.3 inches so as you can imagine the handset is considerably longer and wider than most other phones. Despite these extra dimensions the model is still incredibly slim at just 9.7mm. The back panel offers a textured finish together with a curved design which adds to the visual appeal of the phone. Looking at the device from the front you will see that the screen dominates most of the fascia leaving a very slim border all the way around. This thin bezel gives the phone a sharp, neat appearance.
Although the Motorola Razr overshadows the Galaxy Note in terms of design the Samsung gets its own back when it comes to screen technology. The handset uses an extremely high quality 5.3 inch Super AMOLED display. What impresses us most about this offering is that Samsung have chosen to develop a higher resolution panel rather than attempt to use the 480 x 800 resolution display that they have already developed. This means that the Galaxy Note offers a staggering 1280 x 800 resolution which is far superior to any phone currently available. When you combine the large screen size with this resolution you are left with a very high pixel density of 285 per inch. The Motorola Razr was never going to beat the Samsung in this department but it does offer a high quality display that would fair well against many other current smartphones. The 4.3 inch screen once again uses Super AMOLED technology but this time at a lower resolution of 540 x 960 which equates to a pixel density of 256 pixels per inch. Considering that many new phones offer rating of around 200 PPI then that shows you just how good these two screens actually are. Both displays are constructed from Gorilla Glass which is a chemically treated glass that is very tough and incredibly scratch resistant.
The Motorola Razr and the Samsung Galaxy Note are two of the better mobile phones on the market and both could rightly claim a spot in the top 5 models currently available.
