The new Nokia Lumia 800 is a mid range smartphone that offers some excellent features. A forthcoming update for this phone will deliver an additional feature that we did not think we would see on any device apart from a handful of premium models. Soon users will be able to take advantage of the phones 3G signal and use it on other connected devices.
The Nokia Lumia 800 is a model that boasts some great connectivity options which makes browsing the web on this model a pleasure. Nokia will soon be releasing an update for this model which will allow the phone to be tethered wirelessly to another device. This upgrade will come as part of a new Zune update and should be available to users of this phone and the Lumia 710 sometime over the next two months. The flagship Lumia 900 model will be launched with this feature so no update will be necessary for this handset. This new feature would enable users to connect the phone to another device with web capabilities but that may not be able to take advantage of 3G connectivity. The best example of this could be a laptop computer which will inevitably boast WiFi options which is fine for connecting to a known network but which is not much help if you are travelling around. The laptop would use the phone to receive the 3G signal while you still use the browser that is incorporated on the computer. Nokia confirmed this feature during a recent question and answer session hosted on the Nokia Connect blog.
The session also uncovered so more details about the launch of the Lumia 900, the higher specification version of the Nokia Lumia 800. The manufacturers confirmed that this model will incorporate Gorilla Glass which will please many consumers who are eager to get their hands on this new model. Gorilla Glass is a chemically strengthened glass which is much tougher than traditional glass. It is perfect for use on mobile devices like this which inevitably are more susceptible to damage than other devices which are not carried around with the user. Nokia also confirmed that we can expect to see the new Lumia 900 launched in the second quarter of 2012 which means that we can realistically expect to welcome the phone in April or May.
The Nokia Lumia 800 is a phone that offers a wealth of impressive features and the new update will allow the model to offer even more functionality in the form of wireless tethering. The Lumia 800 will also be joined very soon by the eagerly anticipated Lumia 900 which offers higher specification and more premium features.
The Nokia Lumia 800 is available now and the Nokia Lumia 900 is coming soon.
