A range of excellent handsets should ensure that the Windows Mobile operating system competes well against other platforms such as iOS and Android over the coming months. Two of the very best handsets that have been launched that use this exciting new platform are the Nokia Lumia 900 and the HTC Titan 2. We compared the design and screen technology on these two handsets and the Nokia came out on top so now we look at the processing power and the camera features to see if things are a little more even or if the Nokia still holds the upper hand.
The Nokia Lumia 900 is a powerful device that features Qualcomm Snapdragon hardware. Just like the more mid range Lumia 800 the device incorporates a 1.4Ghz single core processor that forms part of the impressive MSM8255T chipset. Despite being a single core processor this chip delivers great performance speeds thanks to the excellent power efficiency that the Windows OS boasts. A powerful graphics processing unit is also included on this device. This Adreno 205 chip helps the device to easily handle the complex and visually attractive interface that the operating system uses. The HTC Titan 2 is very evenly matched with the Nokia in this department. This phone also uses a very fast single core chip but a slightly more powerful one that is clocked at 1.5Ghz. This chip forms part of the same Snapdragon setup that is used by the Lumia 900 but the extra power is cancelled out by the larger screen dimensions offered by this device. Users will find it really difficult to differentiate between these two handsets in this area with both delivering excellent operation speeds and good multi tasking features.
The two handsets that we are looking at are also very well matched when it comes to camera features. The Nokia Lumia 900 can capture high quality photographs and excellent video footage which users can choose to view on the screen of the phone or transfer to a larger device such as a television. Photographs are captured at 8 mega pixel resolution and these images are further enhanced by the use of an impressive Carl Zeiss lens. A secondary front facing camera also allows users to take shots at 1 mega pixel resolution. As you would expect from a premium smartphone video is recorded in HD quality at a resolution of 720P. The HTC Titan 2 also offers an excellent camera package. The primary camera on the phone offer a massive 16 mega pixel resolution which not only eclipses the Lumia 900 but also just about every other phone on the market. This camera also features a BSI sensor to help the phone to achieve excellent results. The Titan 2 also can record video footage at 720P quality and snap images from the secondary camera at 1.3 mega pixel resolution. The Nokia holds the upper hand on the HTC in most departments but the Titan proves the better phone for photography features.
The Nokia Lumia 900 and the HTC Titan 2 are two of the very best Windows devices currently available. Both models offer impressive processing power and camera features but the HTC over shadows it rival for still photography thanks to the massive 16 mega pixel resolution it can capture.
The Nokia Lumia 900 is coming soon and the HTC One S is available now.
