An Overview Of The Differences Between The Samsung Galaxy R And The BlackBerry Torch 9810

There are some superb quality smartphones that often get overlooked in favour of more well known handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the iPhone 4S. Here we take a look at two such models, the excellent Samsung Galaxy R and the BlackBerry Torch 9810. Both of these handsets offer some great features and high specification so we have a look at both to see which model comes out on top.

These two devices both offer great user speeds thanks to the high powered processors that they use. The Samsung Galaxy R incorporates a dual core processor which means multi tasking is particularly impressive on this model. The 1Ghz ARM Cortex A9 processor forms part of the high quality Tegra 2 chipset that this handset uses. This set up also includes a ULP GeForce graphics processing unit. The BlackBerry Torch 9810 uses a larger 1.2Ghz processor but one that only boasts a single core. In practice this makes the BlackBerry handset slightly faster at performing individual tasks but the device does slow down when you are attempting to perform multiple tasks at the same time. Both models are equipped with ample RAM memory with the Samsung offering the larger 1GB capacity and the BlackBerry a smaller yet still impressive 768MB. The Galaxy R and the Torch are two of the best devices available for storage capacity with 8GB of internal capacity available on each model. This sort of figure should prove more than adequate for the majority of users but anybody who does require more space can use the mico SD card slot that both handsets incorporate. This slot accepts storage cards up to 32GB capacity giving a total overall storage of 40GB.

When we take a look at the media features on both models there is a comprehensive selection of features that will satisfy most phone users. One advantage the Samsung Galaxy R has over the Torch 9810 is that it features a secondary front facing camera. Not only is this ideal for conducting video calls but it is also handy for a taking a quick self portrait. The main camera on the Galaxy R offers a better quality of photograph however at 5 mega pixel resolution which is matched by the BlackBerry. There is also nothing to choose between the video capture quality available on both handsets with the models both capable of recording 720P high definition footage. One area where there is a vast difference however is with the displays that both handsets incorporate. The Galaxy R uses a large 4.2 inch Super AMOLED screen capable of displaying a good standard of resolution at 480 x 800 pixels. The BlackBerry uses a much smaller display at 3.2 inches and can display a resolution of 480 x 640 pixels. This phone uses a much smaller screen as a full Qwerty keypad is located beneath the screen and therefore the extra display space is not needed for a virtual keypad.

The Samsung Galaxy R and the BlackBerry Torch 9810 are very evenly matched in most areas. The real difference between the two handsets lies with the screen sizes and whether the consumers prefers the larger display of the Samsung or the Qwerty keypad offered by the BlackBerry.
